Do NOT Read This Book!

That got your attention. didn't it?

I was SO disappointed in this book.  If you recall, I read another book by Lisa Scottoline and enjoyed it.  This one was difficult to read.  Here is the book description from Amazon:

Lisa Scottoline has delivered taut thrillers with a powerful emotional wallop in her New York Times bestsellers Save Me, Think Twice, and Look Again. Now, with her new novel, Come Home, she ratchets up the suspense with the riveting story of a mother who sacrifices her future for a child from her past.
Jill Farrow is a typical suburban mom who has finally gotten her and her daughter's lives back on track after a divorce. She is about to remarry, her job as a pediatrician fulfills her---though it is stressful---and her daughter, Megan, is a happily over-scheduled thirteen-year-old juggling homework and the swim team.
But Jill’s life is turned upside down when her ex-stepdaughter, Abby, shows up on her doorstep late one night and delivers shocking news: Jill’s ex-husband is dead. Abby insists that he was murdered and pleads with Jill to help find his killer. Jill reluctantly agrees to make a few inquiries and discovers that things don’t add up. As she digs deeper, her actions threaten to rip apart her new family, destroy their hard-earned happiness, and even endanger her own life. Yet Jill can’t turn her back on a child she loves and once called her own.

First of all, there was no suspense to "ratchet up", the story was anything but "riveting", and the main character just was not believable.  As I read it, I kept commenting to my husband, "OMG, I can't believe she did that!"  I forced myself to finish the book and  if it had been the first book I read by this author, I would not read another.  I kept hoping it would get better - it didn't!

I'm sure my next book will be better!

Wow, hard to believe that! I have always enjoyed Lisa Scottoline's books. I guess I'll steer clear of this one.

Thanks for the heads up. Life is too short for bad books. Usually if I like an author I read all his/her books, but you do sometimes get stinkers in there.

Thanks for the review on this one...I'll be sure NOT to pick this one up to read! Have you read "Save Me" yet? I picked it a few weeks ago at a local discount store, but haven't read it yet. If you haven't read it, I'll let you know how after I finish it. (Still working through the Philippa Gregory historical fiction novels...I'm such a nerd - LOL!)
