If you remember, I shared a story about the closing of The Sahara a few weeks ago. I was a little disappointed that I didn't take home a Sahara Chair on that day. Welllllllll...
...I did today! We had a bunch of errands to run today and we were near the strip, so I talked my hubby into swinging by the Sahara - just one more time! I absolutely love this chair! The seat is a little stained, but I think a some upholstery cleaner will do the trick! Just think, in 20 years when I take it to Antiques Roadshow, the Keno brothers will love me because it's all original!!!! In the meantime, this will be my Craft Room Chair. It's very comfortable! Thanks for letting me ramble on about my chair! Oh, and yes, the price did go down! Be sure to stop by tomorrow. I've got an interesting post for you!
Thank you, Becky! To accept this award, I have to tell you 7 things about me and present it to 7 other Bloggers. So, here goes: 1. I love chocolate, as far as I'm concerned, it's the 5th Food Group. 2. I also love Italian food. 3. I enjoy finding and restoring/refinishing old furniture. 4. For my birthday, one year, I asked for a palm sander, and my husband got me one! 5. I love to read. James Patterson is one of my favorite authors! 6. I'm addicted to HGTV, although I wish they lighten up on the house buying shows! 7. I do not like to exercise.
These are just a few of the blogs I haunt and go to for inspiration. Take a few minutes and stop by their blogs to say "hello"! I must say, it's amazing to me how you "meet" people through blogging. Someday, I hope to actually meet these people in person. Have a great Sunday!
Well, you should! Close To My Heart® has done it again! Yes, they've partnered with Provocraft to create a Cricut® Cartridge that will coordinate with stamps from the new Idea Book. Beginning on August 1, 2011, The Art Philosophy Cricut® Collection will be available for purchase. This amazing collection includes over 700 images and also includes 3-D flowers and boxes. As if that isn't enough, the collection also includes 3 stamp sets and 3 sets of coordinating dimensional elements! Throughout the Idea Book, stamp sets that coordinate with the cartridge will be outlined in red. What more could you ask for?
Take a look at this short video. It explains everything!
Here is a sneak peak at just a few of the basic shapes: And, if that isn't enough, here is a little artwork created using this wonderful collection:
Remember, clicking on the images will give you a better look at these pics! And I just want to thank Chris Hill for letting me use these images!
I can't wait to get my hands on this wonderful new product! Let me know if you want to play too! Now, do you hear chirping?
It's Fabulous Friday again, and this week it's all about buttons.
This card is made completely from Close To My Heart® products - cardstock, ribbons, and of course, the buttons! The background is stamped using D1477 Universal Backgrounds and the sentiment is a retired set called MyHeart B1266. The scalloped border is one of our self-adhesive Kraft Borders that I inked with Cranberry. So, now head on over to Frosted Designs to see the rest of the artwork, get inspired, and get started on a project of your own! I'll be looking for your entry!
This is a Close To My Heart® Blog Hop with a focus on the July Stamp of the Month/Party/Picnic. I used B1354 Boom! to create this card:
The colors are Outdoor Denim (sanded) and Cranberry. I heat embossed the fireworks in gold and silver on a scallop punch shape and a circle punch shape. I inked them with Outdoor Denim to give them the feel of the night sky. The ribbon, button, and sparkles are all from Close To My Heart®.
Thanks for stopping by. Now hop on over to Diana's Blog to see more great artwork!
For those who didn't know, the Sahara Hotel/Casino closed here in Las Vegas after 49 years. I couldn't believe they didn't wait for the 50th year, but, obviously, they didn't consult me ~!
Anyway, they are currently having a liquidation sale. It started a few weeks ago, but we really didn't want to deal with the crowds and they crazy people grabbing lamps, etc. like they were at a sale in Filene's Bargain Basement! So we went yesterday. There were only a few people there and we had the chance to walk around and just "look". We went into the theater where all of the lighting, speakers, etc. were all laying on the stage. I couldn't help thinking about all of the famous people who had performed on that stage.
The restaurants were empty, except for some of the fixtures and booths:
It was just a little to big for my kitchen!!!
The chandeliers were also for sale. This beauty could be yours for $6500:
I thought it would look fantastic in the dining room. Who cares that it's actually bigger than my dining room!
Now, Clyde is the true icon of the Sahara. Unfortunately, he is huge and a bit pricey.
I saw a chair that I liked. It was wrought iron and very "Sahara-looking". But it was more than I wanted to spend. My husband also said I didn't have a place to put it. Really? He should know me better by now! Maybe I'll go back in a few weeks and see if the price came down!
They also had tons of furniture, dishes, silverware, glassware, hairdryers, irons, alarm clocks, etc. Keep in mind, there were a lot of hotel rooms in that place! None of it screamed, "Take me home". So what did I buy? ..................
Glasses and a trash can. Yes, I will be able to say that I have a piece of the Sahara! And, maybe a chair - in a few weeks!
First, let me thank all of you for your wonderful comments. I truly treasure and appreciate every one of them. But there can only be one winner, and that person is: Cherie Cherie said, "I love the cake box! It is beautiful! I love the colors, and the bling!! I am a new follower!"
Congratulations, Cherie! Please e-mail me your address and I will get the prize in the mail.
Thank you all, once again. New followers, I hope you'll keep stopping by to see what else happens here at November Rose. In fact, stop by later. I'll have a new post about what I did yesterday. And on Thursday, I'll be participating in another blog hop.
See you later! Ann Oh, the secret number? It was 170.
It's finally here! If you just came from Lydia's blog, you are in the right place. If not, you can stop by Frosted Designs, where the hop begins! Now, this is also the Ice Cream at the Beach Blog Hop. So, there has to be ice cream, right?
Do you remember Dreamsicles? Orange on the outside, vanilla on the inside? Delicious!!
Now all of this celebrating wouldn't be complete without prizes. Here are the details: To have your name entered to win the November-Rose prize, you:
need to leave a comment on this post.
To have it entered a second time, become a follower of my blog. (If you already are a follower, let me know in your comment)
To have it entered a third time, post a link to this post on your blog. Let me know you've done so with a link back to your blog.
Now, I'm sure you're wondering about the prize. Well, here it is:
The stamp set alone is a $22.95 value from Close To My Heart®! The added bonus is: If my number of followers reaches the secret number, I have extra goodies that will be included in the prize package. You may be asking, What is the secret number? Now if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret now, would it?! Be sure to leave your comments before midnight on July 11th.
THERE ARE STILL MORE PRIZES!!!!!
Frosted Design has prizes, as well. You need to collect the questions and answers from all of the blogs on this blog hop. Here is mine:
Ann, what is your favorite embellishment to use on your layout/card/project? Lately it's been paper flowers, but overall, I would have to say, ribbon.
Happy Independence Day, Everyone! Now I know most of you are grillin' and chillin' today, but I wanted to remind you about an important event coming soon.
This Friday, July 8th begins the Frosted DesignIce Cream at the Beach Summer Blog Hop. It is Frosted Design's 1st Anniversary and we are having a blog hop to celebrate. Not only will you see some awesome artwork, there will be prizes to be won - at Frosted Design and here, at November Rose!
