Floriano Punch Flower Tutorial

Recently, someone asked what punch I used to make a flower.  I decided to make a quick tutorial, showcasing the punch and the 3D flower.

I started with the Floriano Punch from McGill.  I punched 3 flowers.

On two of the flowers, I made a cut to the center, pulled one petal over the other, and glued them together.

On the third flower, I cut one petal off completely, pulled one petal over the other, and glued them together.

This is what the three flowers should now look like:

You do not need the petal that you removed.

Next, ink the edges of all of the flower petals.  I used the same color, but I think a contrasting color would be very pretty.

Now, curl the edges of the petals.  I used a pen that was sitting on my table.

Trim the bottom of one of your 4 petal flowers.  This will help it sit better on your project.  Once you have done that, glue (I used Liquid Glass from Close To My Heart®) your two 4-petal flowers together, one on top of the other, but off-set.  This way, you see eight petals.

Take your 3-petal piece and trim the back of it as well.  It will sit better in the flower center.  Use a little more Liquid Glass and attach this piece to the center.  Add a pearl for the center, and you are done!

Your flower is ready for your card or project!

Estate Sale Finds

Those of you that know me, know I can't pass up a good yard/garage/junk/estate sale!  Well, I dragged my darling hubby to an estate sale this weekend and got some great things!  Here is item #1:
I remember a chair like this from when I was a child - except it was painted.  I like this one SO much better.  Today I took the seat off and the cushion was turning to powder.  It will get a new cushion.  Here's a close up of the flower detail:
Isn't that just gorgeous?

Now this little beauty is going to be a bedside table after I do a little work!
As you can see, it NEEDS a little work. Now, all of those marks that look like someone hasn't dusted in months are actually part of the finish.  Here's a close-up:
Weird, huh?  Well, it's nothing my palm sander and I can't handle!

Moving on to item #3:
I just LOVE this little scale!  It's dated 1906, and, yes, it does still work.  I tested it with a pound of butter and it was accurate!

The problem with these items is that they lived in a smoker's house.  I'm planning to start cleaning them with Murphy's Oil Soap and go from there.  Getting the smoke smell out will be a challenge.  Any and all ideas are welcome!

Now, you may be asking yourself, what did her hubby get out of this deal?  Welllllllll, When we went upstairs, I found him this:

Honestly, these pictures mean nothing without this one:

Yes, it really is twelve inches high.  Have you seen the movie Beerfest?  If you have, I don't need to say anything else!  If you haven't seen it, I'm not sure you're missing much!

And, no, he hasn't filled it ------  yet!

Friendship Card

Happy Monday, Everyone!  This card was made for the challenge over at Clean & Simple Stamping.  It is FTL #146.  I just found this blog and really like it!

It is based on this sketch:
The papers and sentiment are all Close To My Heart®.  The button punch is from Martha Stewart and the flower is made from a new punch that I just found at Michaels.  I really like the shape of it.
It's really hot here this week, so I'll be spending time indoors.  Stop by again soon to see what else I come up with!

Black & White + One Color

It's Fabulous Friday again and the kind folks at Creative Cuts and More gave me some goodies to work with for this challenge.  Here they are:

I embellished the shoe card with a flower from the Spring Up stamp set from Close To My Heart®.  It was dressed-up with a pearl in the middle.  The coin purse card was embellished the same way, but first, I stamped the entire purse with a retired background stamp using Amethyst ink.  The clasp was embellished with purple Sparkles.
Here are two pics for a closer look:

I hope you'll stop over at Frosted Designs to see what the rest of the Design Team has created!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend!

B-I-N-G-O Get Well Card

I know, I've been missing for awhile!  Summer Break has been busy, so far.  I even worked a couple of half-days to prepare for the new school year.  I still have a lot going on (more about that later), but, I'm back to my blog and crafting!

This week  Heart 2 Heart is having a BINGO Challenge.  Here's my card:
I used Sophia papers and the Heartfelt Treasures stamp set.  The sentiment is from a retired set called Spunky Greetings - all CTMHThe button and pearl are also Close To My Heart®, the punch, however, is from Martha Stewart.

Now the challenge was to use this board:

You had to  choose three things to use on your project so that, when finished and crossed off on the board, created a Bingo (or Tic-Tac-Toe).

I need to get this card in the mail to my friend who just had surgery.  I hope she likes it!

Please stop back again soon.  I have much more coming your way!

Fabulous Friday - Stitching!

It is Fabulous Friday again and this week it's all about stitching!  Since I wasn't motivated to drag out the sewing machine, I opted for my piercing tool.
I just love the Bliss papers from Close To My Heart®.  Everything else is also CTMH, except the lace.
My dear followers, tomorrow is my last day of school and it's been a "trying" few weeks.  I'm looking forward to a summer of creativity and blogging, so be sure to come back again soon!
