Bling for Fabulous Friday!

Bling is a little "outside of my box", but it was the assignment at Frosted Designs.  Here's what I created:
The stampset (A1111 A Tulip), cardstock, and sparkles are all Close To My Heart®.  The ribbon and lace were in my stash of goodies.  As a matter of fact, I think this is the first round card that I've made.
Be sure to stop over at Frosted Designs to see the rest of the Team's artwork, and be sure to enter something of your own!

Cheesy Chicken Tex-Mex Recipe

It's been awhile since I posted a recipe.  This one is delicious!

Ingredients:
2 cups multigrain penne pasta - uncooked
1 lb. boneless chicken - cut into bite-size pieces
26 oz. jar of salsa
1 cup of corn
1 large green pepper-cut into strips
1 cup of shredded cheese - I use Monteray Jack with jalapeno

Cook pasta according to directions.
Spray skillet with cooking spray and cook chicken until no longer pink.
Stir in salsa, corn, and green pepper strips.
Bring to a boil and simmer on medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
Turn off heat.
Add drained pasta to the chicken mixture.  Mix.
Sprinkle cheese over the top.
Cover and let stand until cheese is melted.

Dinner is served!

In the skillet, before the cheese is added.

On the plate, with cheese.

This is a great recipe for a busy weeknight!
Enjoy!

Paper Rosebud Tutorial

This tutorial is now posted on Frosted Designs.  We also have an awesome Reuse/Repurpose Challenge going on this week.  Be sure to check it out!

Now, on to the tutorial!

I love roses, so here's a tutorial to show you how to make rosebuds that will live forever!

Start with a 3 inch square of cardstock.  I used Colonial White.  Trim the edges so you have a circle.

Starting anywhere on the circle cut a spiral toward the center.  Do not make it even.  It adds interest to your rosebud!

Be sure to leave a small circle at the center.  This will be your base.

With a sponge dauber, sponge some color on the edges of your spiral.  Be sure to do both sides.

Starting with the outer edge, start rolling the spiral on a wooded skewer.

Keep rolling...

All the way to the center.

Slide your rosebud off the skewer and allow it to open up a bit.

Put a dab of glue (I used a glue gun) on the small circle in the middle and gently press down on the rosebud.

Add a couple of leaves, and your rosebud is complete!

I put the quarter there, so you could see the size of the rosebud.  These can be made with a smaller or larger square of cardstock, depending on the size you want.

Here is another one that I made using a smaller square of cardstock:

You can view the entire project here
These rosebuds can be used to decorate so many projects.  Enjoy!

Stamp Storage

After viewing some of the things I've created, a friend said to me, "You must have a boatload of stamps!"  Um, well, uh, YES, I do!!!!
No, I have not counted them, and I have absolutely NO intention of counting them!  It's part of that whole denial thing - you know what I mean, don't you?  But, I thought I'd show you how I store them, since storage is always an issue for hoarders, I mean, crafters!!!

I had some smaller boxes, but was running out of room.  So, off I went to Michael's where I found this:
This box measures 16" X 14" X 7".
I bought two!

As you can see, it holds a lot of stamps!  I also was able to fit the My Acrylix® Organizer from Close To My Heart® in the box.

I turned the stamp sheet around in the clear envelope so I could see the name of the stampset (Click on the picture and look in the upper right corner) and the stamps at the same time.  It just makes it easier for me to find what I'm looking for.

I don't store my stamps in clear containers anymore because this is what happened to the sleeves/inserts:
I don't like fading!

If you're having storage issues, maybe this solution will work for you.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and thanks for stopping by!
