Thank You - H2H

The challenge for this week at Heart To Heart is to create a Thank You project.  Since my husband's Great Aunt just sent us some beautiful tablecloths and dresser scarves that she made, the timing was perfect.
I made this card using the Close To My Heart® Mistletoe papers.  The sentiment is from a long-retired wood set, and the buttons were made using Martha Stewart's button punch/embosser.
I hope Aunt Millie likes it!

My Black Friday

Let me begin by saying, "I DID NOT SHOP TODAY!"  Yes, I am shouting!  I didn't shop in honor of my sister-in-law, Jane, who  has been working in retail her whole life.  I think it's outrageous that retail employees have to be up in the wee hours of the morning so people can shop.
Now this is a lot coming from the "Queen of Shopping", aka Me.  I always went shopping on Black Friday.  But that was before retailers told me I had to get up in the middle of the night to get the best deals!  Sorry, I just won't do it.  And don't get me started on the stores that were open on Thanksgiving.....

OK, off my soapbox and on to the real purpose of this post.  Here is what I did on Black Friday:

This tree is a $20 tree purchased from Walgreens several years ago.  I decided to dig it out and make it "just a red and gold tree".  It sits in my dining room and I just love how it turned out.  I did some more decorating around the house, but our big family tree is not up yet.
Stay tuned for more holiday decorating.  It is my FAVORITE time of the year!

Explosion Boxes

I made these little boxes for the ladies that work in my office.

 You will need:
7 1/2" square of cardstock(stamp as desired) for the box.
4  1/4" square of cardstock(stamp as desired) for the lid.
Ribbon

Score the 7 1/2" cardstock at 2 1/2" &  5".  Turn cardstock a quarter turn and repeat.  You will have 9 squares scored on the cardstock.
Score just the 4 corner squares diagonally.
Fold all score lines, folding the diagonal ones in toward the middle of the box.
Score the 4 1/4" piece of cardstock at 7/8" on all sides.
On the 2 opposite sides, cut the vertical score lines until they meet the horizontal ones.  These will be your tabs.   Fold all score lines and tuck the tabs inside.  Use a strong adhesive to form the box lid.
Fill as desired, put the lid on the box and tie with ribbon.

The ladies loved them!
Now it's your turn!  Let me know how they turn out!

Make It "Girly"

The challenge at H2H this week is to make something girly.  Here's what I came up with:
I used an older stamp set called "Fashion Flair".  The BFF is from C1361 Buttoned Together.  Add some sparkles, lace, and paper flowers and you get girly!
Now I really need to get to work on some Christmas projects.  Be sure to stop back to see those!

Thanksgiving Luminaria

The challenge at Paper Cubed is to create a votive holder or candle decoration.  The instructions were on Split Coast Stampers and the stamps are CloseTo My Heart®.  The "windows" are covered in vellum that were brayered with ink.  Head over to Paper Cubed for more great ideas!  http://papercubed.blogspot.com/

A Card With "Shape"

This week's Heart to Heart Challenge is to create a card with "shape".  No squares or rectangles allowed.  Here's what I came up with:
I've had this swimsuit pattern for a long time and never used it.  It was traced on cardstock and then the card was covered with Silhoutte background and texture paper.  Some Cranberry ribbon, Just Blooms flowers-inked with Cranberry, some bling, and voila!  A Card With Shape!
Be sure to click the H2H button on the right to see more shape cards!
Thanks for stopping by!

Ice Cream Parlor Stool

I saw this little stool at an estate sale.  Since I have an ice cream parlor chair, I thought it would compliment it perfectly.  Needless to say, it needed a little work!  Here it is:

Before

After
And, no, I don't have any ideas why it has a Star of David on it.  But it now looks better than the chair!  I guess I'd better get to work on the next project!
