Happy Birthday - Card & "Cake"

This was so easy to make!  Everything is made from Close To My Heart® products.  The papers are : Chocolate, Blush, Cherry-O B&T.  The stamps are actually from the "wood stamp" days!  I used a toothpick to hold up the sign.  The cake is a battery-operated tea light.  I attached a 5" x 3/4" piece of cardstock around the tealight and used a 2" punch to make the "icing".  Use a craft knife to make several intersecting lines in the center.  I folded them under, so they wouldn't show. Fold down the edges, attach it and TA-DA - it's a cake!  Thanks to Split Coast Stampers for the directions!

Here are some close-ups.  Click on the photos for an even closer look!

Snow Mountain Pow Wow

Today we spent the afternoon at the Annual Snow Mountain Pow Wow.  It was hosted by the Paiute Tribe, just outside of Las Vegas.  The dancing was amazing, and the outfits were beautiful. Everyone was very friendly and allowed me to take their picture.  It is important to ask first!  Here are a few for you to enjoy:

I'm not sure what was more impressive, the front or the back!  He was such a nice man.  We were chatting about digital cameras!

Teenagers!  And they allowed me to take their picture.

Of course, I did some shopping.

Just beautiful!  So soothing!

Stamp Your Own Background - H2H Challenge #8

The title of my post says it all.  I used My Heart B1266 for the background, with the little heart provided by Love Birds C1396.  The heart in the circle is from A Love A1103 and the paper lace ribbon was created using Martha's punch!  The cardstock is Vanilla Cream, Cranberry, and ChocolateChocolate and Cranberry inks were used and I sponged some Desert Sand to give it a softer look.  Everything is from Close To My Heart®  I think this would make a great Anniversary Card or a Valentine.

Stop by later for the post on Young Authors, and maybe some more!  Did someone say, "Pow-Wow"?

Heart2Heart Challenge #7 - Who Says They Have To Be Cherries?

This week was a color challenge.  I'm just getting to it since this week was Young Authors' Week at my school.  More on that in another post!  Here are the colors I had to work with:

Yes, I did use the Bowl of Cherries stamp set from Close To My Heart®, but I made the cherries - blueberries! I tried to think outside of the box (or bowl, in this case) on this one! The basket is an wood stamp that we had years ago, but it's still one of my favorites!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Heart2Heart Challenge #6

This card was made for the "technique" challenge.  The technique is Embossing Resist.  It's very simple and I love the effect.
Start by stamping your image(s) with embossing ink and sprinkling embossing powder over the cardstock.  Heat with your craft heater.  Using a sponge dauber, sponge ink on the cardstock.  Use a paper towel or tissue to buff the ink off the embossed image(s).  Use this image to make your card.
I used:
White embossing powder
White cardstock
Sweet Leaf cardstock
Cranberry ink pad - yes, I know it sponged very light!
Topiary ink pad -  this also sponged light!
B1351 You're Sweet Stamp set
Bubblegum ribbon
All products are Close To My Heart®

How "Cool" is This?

Today, my husband and I were out running errands, when we saw this coming down the sidewalk:

The picture isn't the greatest, since I had to hurry-up and get out my camera before the light changed!!!  But, I got the shot!!!

If you can't tell, it's a "Cooler Scooter".  At least that's what I'm calling it.  It's motorized and has the Mike's Hard Lemonade logo on the side.  Just think about this for a minute.  You're out cruisin' on your scooter and you get a little  'parched".  All ya have to do is stand up, lift up the seat and pull out a nice cold, refreshing beverage!  How "cool" is that????

Leaving you with that "refreshing" thought for today!

Heart2Heart Challenge #5

This week's challenge was to make something for Mother's Day.  I decided to use our Cherry-O papers.  I made pleats for the bottom of the card and dressed it up with some raffia!  Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Heart2Heart Challenge #4

I've had a very busy week, so I'm just getting to this week's challenge.  This week I had to use at least two different ribbons in my artwork.  I didn't want to make another card, so I decided to make a post-it note holder.  I used our new Cherry-O Paper, Tulip ribbon, Chocolate ribbon, (all CloseTo My Heart), and some other red ribbon I had in my stash!
Here it is:
